Burgoo Weekend
October 11 - October 12
The LaSalle County Historical Society’s Annual Burgoo Festival returns to downtown Utica October 11 & 12. This much-loved event features shopping, food, music, and family fun throughout the village. The highlight is the festival’s signature Burgoo Stew—a pioneer dish slow-cooked outdoors overnight with beef, chicken, pork, vegetables, and even a splash of August Hill wine—available only on Sunday.
Saturday, October 11, 11am-7pm
- Shop the Canal Market – Over 375 vendors set up in the Canal Market and around Utica. August Hill Winery will have a tent by the Canal Market and will be selling our canned wines!
- Savor delicious food options at the Burgoo Food Court
- Sip on your favorite wines at the August Hill Tasting Room and enjoy live music by John Drake from 3:30-6:30pm
- Catch additional live entertainment in Utica, 11am-6pm
- See blacksmithing demos
Sunday, October 12, 9:00 am — 5:00 pm
- Enjoy the Famous Burgoo Stew, available starting at 9am. The stew is cooked outdoors Saturday night for between 12 and 18 hours over a wood-burning fire, giving it a special flavor. Squads of volunteer vegetable choppers and kettle stirrers spend the night preparing this pioneer dish.
- Stop by the August Hill Tasting Room, opening early at 9 am, for Mimosas, warm August Hill Spiced wine, and August Hill Chill wine slushies.
- Browse 375+ craft and antique vendors, plus find August Hill Winery’s tent by the Canal Market, serving our canned wines.
- Live entertainment in Utica, 9am-4pm
- Family fun with children’s games, Live BlackSmith Demos & more
- 50/50 Drawing at 5:00 pm at Heritage Center front porch (tickets available at August Hill and other locations throughout Utica)
